Gingerbread Halloween Houses! This was a blast! It was messy, difficult, droopy, and did I say...Messy and droopy?! But oh so worth it...the kids had a blast...along with my hubby. :) Have you ever seen that movie "House of Wax"? That is what this house looks like. ;)
I got the set at Albertsons for $10.00 and it came with everything. Although we made the white ourselves, I will tell you how below. We were going to "go it alone" and make our own but it ended up being cheaper just to get the set. Since the sprinkles alone would have ben $5.00 at Wal Mart!
So here is how we made the white icing (which is what we used as the "glue" and snow)...
Royal Icing-
4 Egg whites
5-7 cups of powdered sugar
Mix the egg whites with a hand blender until white and fluffy. Add the powdered sugar 1 cup at a time and blend well. The original recipe called for 4 cups of powdered sugar which was just not enough at all because after 4 cups it was way too runny. So I ended up using about 7 cups...(I just kept adding until it got to a glue like consistency). Added it to a ziplock bag and cut a small hole on the end and VOILA Royal icing, better known as "Halloween House Glue"!
Have Fun and be creative....

WOW! really cool!
